Christine S. Winter, M.D.
Christine S. Winter, M.D. serves as a hematology/oncology consultant and attending physician at Hinsdale Hospital, and Assistant Professor (Clinical Medicine) and Consultant (Hematology/Oncology) at Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago. Dr. Winter is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology.
After earning her B.Sc. in Biochemistry (University College, London) and her medical degree (University College Hospital Medical School, London), Dr. Winter served internships at University College Hospital and Edgeware General Hospital in her native England, followed by internal-medicine residencies in Newfoundland and Alberta, Canada.
Following certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada, Dr. Winter was awarded a two-year Hematology Fellowship at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, Minnesota, where she served also as Instructor in Medicine. This was followed by an individual third year of research study in her special field of coagulation.
Dr. Winter entered private practice in 1980 as Hematology Section Chief at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago. In 1988, she joined Hinsdale Hematology-Oncology Associates, and Hinsdale Hospital’s medical staff.
In 2002, Chicago Magazine named Dr. Winter one of Chicago’s Top Docs. In 2004, a Castle-Connolly survey of Chicago medical professionals named her “Chicago Top Doctor/Hematology.” Also in 2004, Dr. Winter was honored as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
Dr. Winter and her husband make their home in the western suburbs.
